EXCELLENCE, PERSEVERANCE, AND JOY

Tall Oaks Classical School encourages students, families, and faculty to pursue the core values of excellence, perseverance, and joy. These core values form the basis for the philosophy behind all athletic endeavors at Tall Oaks. We will play to the best of our ability, with perseverance and joy.

In the Spring of 2016, Tall Oaks began partnering with Red Lion Christian Academy in sports.  We believe that our schools' athletic teams are stronger when we work together rather than operate separately.  Sharing facilities and partnering together allows a greater percent of the budget to be invested into areas that most directly affect our students and provides more co-curricular opportunities from which students can choose to participate. We know that education is always taking place, and school activities outside the classroom are every bit as impactful in the lives of students as the instruction they receive in the classroom.

Building School Spirit and Community

The Tall Oaks community recognizes that athletic teams and recreational clubs enhance the atmosphere of the student body--providing students, parents, and faculty with the opportunity to express school spirit and build community. All members of the Tall Oaks family can support the athletic program in a variety of ways--including coaching, transportation, concession help, and so forth. A successful program is a demonstration of the entire school working together.

Leadership Development

We believe that participation in athletics and clubs provides many opportunities for our students to develop leadership abilities that will be beneficial to them in roles they may pursue in their families, churches, careers, and communities. Our student athletes will be encouraged to develop God-given leadership abilities as team captains, coaches of younger teams, and so forth.

crosscountry-2016.jpgWe believe that participation in athletic programs provides good opportunity to encourage Christian students in their relationship with and witness for Jesus Christ.

We expect Christ-like cha

racter and behavior in all of our athletes, coaches, and fans.

We expect our students to respect all in authority--referees, coaches, faculty members, or other parent volunteers. We expect our students to interact with their peers in a way that is encouraging and uplifting, respecting the differences in skill and ability, but encouraging each other to pursue excellence in all that is done.

In summary, Tall Oaks seeks to provide a variety of athletic opportunities that will build the school community, develop future leaders, and nurture relationships.

Varsity Athletics

Varsity athletics are a very important part of the high school experience for many students. We are privileged to be a part of the DIAA which governs school athletics in the state of Delaware.  As a result of this relationship, our athletic teams are able to play other private and public schools, as well as charter and vo-tech schools.  Athletes can make their home on our Red Lion campus and play one, two, or three seasons of sports. The opportunities to grow are endless.

Middle School Athletics

Middle school is an exciting time to get involved in extracurricular activities at school such as sports.  We view our sports program as an extension of the classroom, where respect, kindness, good sportsmanship and godly character are taught and modeled by Christian coaches.  The athletic field is just another opportunity to shine our light for Jesus.  The focus is introducing and developing athletic skills in a Christian atmosphere that can be later refined on the high school level.

We offer many different sports for our middle school students.  In the fall, students may participate in cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, football, soccer (boys), and volleyball.  In the winter students may try out for cheerleading or basketball.  Our spring middle school sports include baseball, lacrosse (boys), soccer (girls), and softball.
