Christian Principles — Classical Methods — Amazing Results
Thank you for your interest in Tall Oaks Classical School for the education of your children. We invite you to read our admissions information and school profile, and listen to the testimonials of our students, parents and graduates. While we hope this web site answers many of your questions about our school, the best way to get to know us is to experience for yourself our unique and engaging learning environment.
We hope you will be pleasantly surprised when they look in on our orderly grammar school classrooms, see our students’ neat cursive handwriting and hear them cheerfully chanting the dates on their history timelines or identifying the parts of speech in a complex sentence. At this point visitors often whisper, “I didn’t learn that until
middle school!” But the excellence of our grammar school will be even more impressive when you see the classes for which it prepares our students. When you step into our rhetoric level classes, you step into a different world. Whether the class is history, theology, math, science or literature, our students are engaged in thoughtful writing, spirited discussion or lively debate. After sitting in on our high school classes, parents often confess, “I want to go to school here!”
You can visit Tall Oaks on one of our scheduled Open House days. During Open Houses, we have samples of our curriculum and student work on display and folks on hand to answer your questions and take you on a tour. We understand, though, that our Open Houses don’t fit everyone’s schedule. If you cannot visit an Open House, we invite you to call and arrange for a private tour. If your child would like to sit in on classes for a day or a portion of a day, you can schedule that as well. Our school day begins at 8:00 and ends at 3:00 p.m. Many children who are anxious about coming to a new school are quickly made comfortable by our friendly, welcoming students and teachers.
Sometimes when families visit Tall Oaks and see the achievement of our students, they assume that we only accept children of above average ability and worry whether their children will be able to keep up. Although our students have the advantage of coming from families that make the education of their children an important priority, they are blessed with the normal range of abilities that one would find in most schools. We use our entrance testing, not to select the most gifted students, but to place students in the proper grade and to identify any areas that could use some extra work to make a transition to our school easier. Our goal is to bring the best out of students throughout the range of normal abilities. You will be amazed at what your child can achieve at Tall Oaks!
After prayerfully considering all you have seen and heard, if you find yourself desiring a Tall Oaks education for your children, we hope you will begin the application process as soon as possible. Enrollment is open for the 2010 – 2011 school year and some classes are already close to their limits. Enrolling now will enable us to make the best plan for your child’s transition to Tall Oaks Classical School.
We look forward to your visit!
